This one is for all you candy lovers out there…
It’s very rare to find a partner with a shared vision. And in this case, to find a partner who also wants to launch a business with the crazy idea to make “the Snickers bar to end all Snickers bars”, and to create artisanal flavors that challenges one’s idea of candy…candy that makes people think. But, these two pastry chefs were lucky enough to have found each other – and thank goodness for that.
Meet Liz Gutman and Jen King, the founders of Liddabit Sweets based in New York City. They launched their business in early 2009 on a whim, and now their unique, seasonal candy concepts are selling out online and in community markets all over the city. In their eyes, the secret to success is making candy by hand…for the hard work put into it makes all the difference in the world.

Also, Liddabit Sweets will also be selling their candy at The New Amsterdam Market on Sunday, December 20th at The South Street Seaport. Come out and meet Jen & Liz!
I am so jonesing for their candy right now. Great job.
Me too! Sure wish they sold it at Blue Apron–I know I sound like a broken record player. Oh Liddabit, won’t you come down to Park Slope?
You know they sell at Marlow & Daughters and Northern Food Spy, don’t see why they wouldn’t be interested in selling there!
Liddabit is now at Get Fresh Table and Market in Park Slope.
Another great video, Lisa. Thank you for putting all these small companies in the spotlight. It makes me want to drop everything and start my own little company. Or at least buy a batch of those beer-pretzel goodies.
You’re welcome. So glad you take the time to watch I mean, honestly it’s so hard to not tell their stories. So much love gets put into food, it’s amazing!
See you at Hanson pl. We will be hungry.
