This weekend, I participated in my very first Crop Mob! It was a local event held at various locations in NYC to help urban farms get their land ready for the growing season. I put a quick little video together to share with you some highlights from my time at The Brooklyn Rescue Mission Farm where 20+ volunteers all got their hands dirty to help a farm in need. It was truly a feel good experience especially after learning of their mission to revitalize the food system in Central Brooklyn so the community can purchase healthy local foods to cook and eat.
Other participating farms included:
- The High School for Public Service with BKFarmyards
- Eagle Street Rooftop Farms
- Added Value Farm
More crop mobs are being planned for the future and not only in NYC. You can sign up to join the next one in NYC on their Facebook page. Happy volunteering!
Love the video! The Jacksons and Brooklyn Rescue Mission are awesome folks. Happy to see my favorite peeps in the video (Nancy Romer, Mara, Kristen). As always, great work.
