When I visited Philly on a recent food trip, I wasn’t coming for cheesesteaks, I was coming for this.

Meet Denise’s Soul Food Truck where soul food is done a little differently – skillfully blending Haitian flavors and spices from back home with familiar recipes from the Deep South. It’s known as one of the best and most established street food trucks in Philly, serving up heaping (and if I could think of a bigger word than heaping I would use it b/c heaping doesn’t even capture the portion sizes you get here) plates of heavily sauced, fall-off-the-bone marinated jerk chicken, rice & beans, collard greens and more with a twist, of course.

Fifteen years ago, Renault Hyppolite, the co-owner, had originally opened a Haitian food truck, but quickly realized they had to tweak the menu to appeal to Philly eaters unfamiliar with Haitian food. So, after many months of menu development and playing in the kitchen, they decided to add their experience of eating down South to the mix. And the results, for me, just taste like it was meant to be. It’s comforting food. Food that makes you want to sit in a rocking chair and pass the day chatting it up with friends. Food that definitely tastes like it’s got some soul…Caribbean soul…

Watch the video and see for yourself!

Denise’s Soul Food Truck was selected to represent Philly Street Food at the 2010 Vendy Awards in New York City. And if you’re going, this is one street vendor you won’t want to miss.

I’ve been surfing the web more than 2 hours today, and this is the best article I’ve come across. I’m a content fiend so I’ve actually read a lot already. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made as good content as youhave, the net would bemuch more useful than ever before.

Hello, my name is Deborah Burke. Presently, I am planning an event in Trenton, NJ. I understand that you recently had a food truck in the vicinity, and the food was fantastic. However, the event I’m attempting to plan would be pretty large and I was wondering if you could supply the food for the event.

Please advise at the above e-mail or 609-775-3227.

    Thank you.
